The Beddow High School
The Beddow High School is a private, co-ed, non-sectarian school for students from grades seven through twelve. The school is located in Accokeek, Maryland on a 7-acre site and offers the facility necessary for a fully implemented program. Beddow High School meets County and State requirements for a private school and holds a Certificate of Approval from the Maryland State Board of Education.

Teachers at Beddow High School hold graduate or undergraduate degrees appropriate to the levels that they teach.

Beddow Students learn to set goals, to establish priorities, and to manage the work of their own education.  Along the way, their teachers nurture initiative, encourage entrepreneurial spirit, and foster concern for the larger community in which we live.

COURSE OF STUDY:  The academic program for grades seven through twelve includes English literature, AP English literature, drama, journalism, and creative writing; pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus and calculus; early American history, United States government, AP United States history, world geography and the study of early civilizations; biology, AP biology, chemistry, and physics; foreign language (Spanish, French, and Latin); and computer skills. Students will develop the ability to organize and prioritize assignments and undertake independent research projects. Students are expected to dedicate at least one half hour per subject, per day to study at home. Independent reading is encouraged. Students also participate in physical education, fundraising for class activities, and community service projects. Class trips and academic competitions provide an opportunity for exploration beyond the confines of the school. Class hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

TUITION: The tuition is $9,300. This fee includes textbooks. A non-refundable deposit of $2,325 is due March 31, 2006 or upon execution of the enrollment agreement. The remaining balance of $6,975 is to be paid in 3 installments in the amount of $2,325 each, August 1, 2006, November 1, 2006, and February 1, 2007.

ADMISSION:  Is on the basis of application, interview, entrance exam, transcript, and two letters of recommendation. A portfolio or writing sample must be submitted. A non-refundable fee in the amount of $50 must accompany the application. When classes are full, applicants are placed on a waiting list. Beddow High School does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, or national origin.

ADMISSIONS DEADLINE: Entrance Exam - Applicants will not be interviewed until after they have taken the required entrance exam. The requirements for admission must be on file and completed by the deadline according to the admissions calendar. Letters informing students of their admission status will be mailed on March 6, 2006.
