-
develop initiative, concentration and
self-discipline
Montessori primary education lays down a concrete
foundation for abstract learning later in life.
The Elementary Classroom
Elementary students study in mixed age
classrooms. This grouping enhances education by promoting
peer mentoring and fostering leadership skills.
The Montessori elementary classroom balances the
child's developing imagination and powers of abstraction with
concrete, hands-on learning materials. Each of these
materials has a structured sequence designed to lead to discovery
and understanding.
The elementary age child is moving from an
understanding of the physical world to a grasp of abstract
concepts. Montessori provides diverse and creative passages
to abstraction.
