The Beddow School is
an independent, not for profit school for children age two
and a half to twelve years. The educational program is
based on the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori.
The school serves
families at two locations, in Ft. Washington and Waldorf,
Maryland. Before and after school care is available at
both campuses.
All Beddow School
teachers have earned at least a Bachelor's Degree and hold a
Montessori diploma appropriate for the level they teach.
The Beddow School
meets all county and state requirements for a private
Montessori School and holds a Certificate of Approval from
the Maryland State Board of Education. |

CLASSES: The Fort Washington campus
consists of three primary classes and three elementary
classes, which are non-graded and meet five days a week. The
Waldorf campus consists of three primary classes and two
elementary classes. The curriculums for the primary and
elementary classes emphasize a phonetic approach in language
development, and a concrete approach in mathematics, social
studies and science. The half-day primary class is for
students age 5 and under, from 9:00 am - noon. The full day
primary class is for students that reach the age of 5 by
September 30, 2005 or age 6. Admission to the full day primary is
dependent upon readiness, determined by the teacher and/or
administrative head. School hours for the full day primary
class is from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The elementary class is
for students 6-12 years of age, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
EXTENDED DAY CARE: Before and after
school care is available for an additional monthly fee:
7:00-8:30 am ($90)

ENROLLMENT FEE: A $500 fee is
required at the time of enrollment, and is not refundable.
This fee is deducted from the annual tuition. The balance of
the annual tuition is to be paid monthly, beginning
September 1 through May 1.
FINANCIAL OBLIGATION: Contracts are
to insure the stability of the school and are strictly
enforced. Beddow School will not refund tuition or cancel
unpaid obligations if the accepted student is forced to
withdraw before or during the upcoming year.
ENROLLMENT: Is on the basis of
application and interview. Acceptance is on a first come,
first serve basis. The level in which a student is placed is
based on the result of their interview. There is a $25
non-refundable interview fee. When classes are full,
applicants are placed on a waiting list. The Beddow School
does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color or
national origin.
